Juan Pablo Miquirray
Mexico City, 1977. Director, producer and writer of several documentaries, fiction films and TV series. He graduated with merit from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) and his work has taken him to explore Mexico extensively, addressing current affairs and diverse stories in the country.
He received a special mention award at the 21st Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) with his short film “Capillus” and was a finalist at the 17th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) with his feature film script “El Observante”, which gave him the right to participate in The Black List platform for screenwriters.
His involvement in the production of films such as "Cochochi" by Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas and "Corazón del Tiempo" by Alberto Cortés, introduced him to the documentary genre. He is also co-author of the film script "Campeona sin Corona" directed by Alan Coton, director of the youth series "Yo soy yo" and director of the second unit of the TV series "Crónica de Castas" by Daniel Giménez Cacho, both productions for Canal Once.
In the documentary field, he has participated as director of diverse contents, among them, his debut film “An Island in the Continent”, the television series “Mysteries of the Underworld” for Nat Geo and “La Senda del Agua” for Channel 14. His documentary narrative is often constructed from different perspectives and micro-stories to show what can create a unique cosmos.
He is currently a founding partner and director of the production company JP&K Films, is working in the pre-production phase of the feature film "Arillo de Hombre Muerto" (Dead Man Ring) by Alejandro Gerber Bicecci. Juan Pablo Miquirray will premiere in mid-2022 the documentary series "Diásporas" on Afro-Mexican roots for Canal Once and has several projects in development in search of co-production.
